American entertainer Pat Finn, who featured in beloved TV shows such as "Friends", Seinfeld and The Middle, has passed away at 60 years old.

The skilled improv artist passed away at his residence in Los Angeles on Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis from 2022 onward, according to reports.

"Pat Finn never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his family said in a message.

They added that he had "lived his life fully - with happiness and energy".

A Notable Career on Screen

Finn's first television role was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in the show Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of hit series, such as:

  • King of Queens
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons of the show between 2011 and 2018.

Beyond the Screen

Away from his acting parts, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the Colorado university, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-member improv team called "Beer Shark Mice".

"He guided, supported, and advised countless students over the years and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor actor Richard Kind noted there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, down to earth person you could encounter".

"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. A great dad, a great guy," he shared publicly.

Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, his three kids, and his parents and siblings.
