The British player advanced to round three in three out of four Grand Slam events this year.

The British tennis star Emma Raducanu will not compete in her final two events of the year because of a health issue that has affected her in recent days.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in events in Asia but opted to return home to rest and recuperate before starting next year's training.

Those preparations will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals have decided to continue collaborating in 2026.

Raducanu had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match with Ann Li in Wuhan last week and retired when behind 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.

She needed once more a doctor's assessment at this week's Ningbo Open, where she lost in three sets to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in round one.

She was also playing far from freely in the deciding set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her on several occasions in 2025.

These outcomes meant an encouraging season, in which she climbed into the international top 30 after more than three years for the first time since 2022, concluded with three straight losses.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points then was defeated by Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her most impressive week was at the Miami event in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament before losing in three sets to Pegula, ranked fourth.

She was coached by Mark Petchey as coach from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over in time for the US Open.

The original arrangement with the ex-coach of Rafael Nadal was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that her three-day trial alongside Roig after Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.

She nearly succeeded to defeating top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in August's Cincinnati tournament.

Roig was also with Raducanu in New York, where she made the third stage before being beaten by Rybakina, champion at Wimbledon in 2022.
