Weapon-carrying attackers have fatally shot an educator and seized a minimum of 25 learners in an assault against a female high school in the northwestern part of Nigeria, police reports indicate.
The gang of attackers invaded the comprehensive secondary school for girls in Kebbi State's Maga area at roughly 4 in the morning local time on the beginning of the work week, police confirmed.
The attackers "exchanged fire with security forces on duty in a gun duel" before climbing over the boundary wall and taking the pupils captive from their living quarters, according to a statement.
