Early Release Information

Storyline Summary

Taking place within the Derry mythology, Welcome to Derry borrows elements from King’s iconic novel while building upon the world established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the recent movie adaptations. It Chapter One focused on kids and teens battling unimaginable horrors, thus it's suitable that the series upholds that legacy. Yet, the debut of the streaming show proves it aimed to raise the stakes, delivering heightened horror than Muschietti’s films and creating a dark atmosphere for the upcoming episodes.

Premise and Ideas

Set in 1962, the program introduces a different group of parents and youngsters living in a seemingly idyllic town hiding a evil heart. This place follows a cruel, recurring cycle—one marked by aggression, prejudice, and paranormal events, as a evil entity returns each 27-year cycle. Although the series might appear like it leans too heavily to the cinematic adaptations on the surface, what differentiates the streaming show is its two-sided viewpoint—told from the perspectives of kids and grown-ups simultaneously. Children are particularly vulnerable to the entity's fear, but the adults don't escape facing their personal demons born from Derry’s deep-seated bigotry and covert otherworldly powers.

The series debuts on October 31 at 3 a.m. EST.
