Jurgen Klopp says coming back to manage Liverpool is plausible in theory.
The German coach, who departed from Anfield in 2024, has suggested that rejoining the club is a possibility. Klopp, following a hugely successful nine-season tenure which brought continental glory and the Premier League crown since 1990, currently occupies roles in a global football capacity for Red Bull and as an advisor to Germany's league body.
Fan Sentiment and Klopp’s Candid Remarks
They secured England's top flight in the previous campaign, though countless followers who adore the manager would welcome the idea that he may eventually return. Speaking candidly, he told his interviewer: “I said I won't manage any other side in England. Therefore should it be the Reds...yeah. In theory, it could happen.”
“I’m 58, that means I could make the decision down the line, it's uncertain. Is a decision required immediately? In that case, I'd stay away. But thank God, no such pressure exists. I'll wait and observe how things unfold.”
What Would Lure Him Back?
Pressed on which situations would have to unfold to draw him back to management, he revealed he feels no immediate pull for a comeback. “I'm not entirely sure, My present work fulfills me,” he said. “I don't crave being a coach; No desire to be under bad weather for two-and-a-half or three hours; No need for press conferences multiple times weekly or doing numerous chats each week.
“I don’t miss the dressing room in that context, but sitting in a restaurant with the players enjoying conversation, I appreciate that. We won a lot of games meaning regularly a very good mood in the building. I can still hear Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”
Praise for His Successor
He commended of the current boss, crediting him for the adjustments which secured the championship last campaign. Liverpool have lost four consecutive matches across various tournaments after a summer spending spree, but he rubbished the notion that it might signal the start of a downward turn.
“[Liverpool have] a top-class attacker such as Wirtz, you will all eat your words if spoken against. A remarkable prospect. The French striker, incredible player. This is a well-built balanced team. You don’t have to worry over the club, they'll bounce back.”
Emotional Tribute for Diogo Jota
The manager expressed deep feeling about the death of the Portuguese star, whom he brought in while in charge, and the effect for the team. The forward lost his life in a car crash alongside his brother this past summer.
“How do you replace somebody like Diogo? It goes beyond the player himself, his personality mattered. It's hard to picture the team environment absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. A profound tragedy for all the boys too. Not a single person will ever use it as an excuse yet it's the reality. You walk in a dressing room which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is challenging. Overwhelming.”
