President Trump Welcomes Loved Ones of Attacked National Guard Members to White House
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a Guard member killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he spoke to her parents and they were “devastated”.
Information on the Heartbreaking Incident
US army specialist Sarah Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on Wednesday in DC.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Gatherings across West Virginia have taken place in their honor.
Presidential Offer
The commander-in-chief stated he’s proposed a meeting at the presidential residence for the loved ones of both soldiers of the West Virginia Guard.
“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with Andrew, recover or not.”
Public Response
Community members assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to honor Sarah.
Both they had been working with the state guard as part of Trump’s national effort to aid policing efforts in DC.
Remembering Sarah Beckstrom
“She was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s alma mater, stated to the press. “She was caring, caring and always willing to help others.”
Service arrangements for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.
Legal Measures and Policy Revisions
Authorities have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while armed.
The incident prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and halt granting visas to possessors of passports from Afghanistan.
Condition of Wolfe
Wolfe, a native of the city, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman High, per the Associated Press.
He continues to receive treatment and is “in a critical fight”, West Virginia leader the governor said on Fox News Channel’s The Sunday Briefing.
Attorney general Bondi informed the program that she planned to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Legacy of Beckstrom
Beckstrom, from Summersville, completed her education from Webster County high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with distinction, according to the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she absolutely had fortitude,” he addressed the crowd at the service. “Though her time lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
