The Blue Jays Claim World Series Meeting Against the Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

George Springer was instrumental for the Astros winning the World Series in 2017.

Canada's MLB team reached their first Fall Classic following 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the seventh Game 7 of the AL Championship Series.

Behind 3-1, outfielder George Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh inning, propelling the only Canadian franchise in the majors to a 4-3 series victory in the best-of-seven series. Awaiting them are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the anticipated World Series.

"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, our country," commented Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "This is such an unbelievable moment."

Springer has now hit twenty-three October home runs, ranking him third in history behind Manny Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Altuve (twenty-seven).

"It's hard to imagine another person in the world that I want up in that moment besides George Springer with his playoff prowess," said Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series 2-0 and 3-2, remain the sole team yet to make an appearance in a Fall Classic.

Mariners manager Dan Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" following his side's defeat at their home ballpark, but applauded their work throughout the year.

"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the wrong side of the series," he continued.

The Blue Jays won the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
