The co-founders behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben and Jerry's has claimed how parent company Unilever blocked the introduction for an innovative pro-Palestinian frozen dessert product.

The entrepreneur, who co-founded the business with his partner, announced that he plans to personally create this new flavor within an individual series showcasing issues Ben & Jerry's has been prevented from speaking out about.

Ongoing Conflict Between Creators versus Corporate Owner

This latest development deepens the continuing tension among the world-famous ice cream maker and its corporate parent, the British packaged goods corporation which has owned Ben & Jerry's since 2000.

Both founders have asserted that the parent company along with its ice cream arm Magnum improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's against "fulfilling its ethical commitments".

The Fruit Sorbet as a Symbol of Support

The entrepreneur stated via social media that he is creating an innovative watermelon-flavored sorbet, asking for public suggestions regarding naming options plus additional components.

“I'm doing what they couldn't,” the founder declared from a cooking set. “I'm making a watermelon-based ice cream that calls for lasting ceasefire in Palestine and calls for repairing the damage that was done there.”

The watermelon has emerged as a symbol for support for the Palestinian people due to its coloration, which match those of Palestine's national banner – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement plus Recent Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company refused to sell their merchandise in areas under Israeli control, resulting in Unilever selling their Israel business to a local licensee, thereby permitting ongoing distribution in disputed territories.

This upcoming product line is being created through Ben's Best, the socially conscious ice cream brand that was first established several years back for endorsing ex- political contender Bernie Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Back".

Management Changes and Upcoming Plans

Mr. Cohen revealed that he plans to develop other ice cream flavors focusing on concerns which the company was silenced from speaking about openly by corporate restrictions.

The announcement comes after partner Mr. Greenfield stepped down from Ben & Jerry's recently, following decades of involvement, mentioning worries regarding how its independence was undermined after Unilever's decision to curb its social activism.

At that time, Mr. Cohen remarked how "Jerry has strong compassion and this conflict with Unilever was breaking it."

“My conscience compels me to keep working inside the company to fight for corporate autonomy so that it can achieve its ethical purpose, the values which it was founded on and has maintained for over 40 years," he told journalists.
