Triple MVP Jokic suffers a 'devastating' knee injury.
Three-time National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee as the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Miami Heat.
The Serbian center sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter during an inadvertent contact with team-mate Jones.
The other player landed on the footwear of the big man, who promptly collapsed to the court clutching his leg.
The star, who leads the NBA season in boards and assists, recorded a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the game before sustaining the setback.
He will have an MRI scan on Tuesday to determine the seriousness of the injury.
"Right away, Jokic realized something was wrong," commented Nuggets head coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Any player that is injured, it's difficult, particularly somebody as special as Jokic. We'll find out more tomorrow."
"We'll move on as a team. Clearly, right now, I'm more concerned just about Jokic as a person and the frustration of facing a situation of that nature."
